Pitchfork Music Festival and Sheffield Garden Walk in Chicago
Chicago in the summertime means festivals. No matter what part of Chicago you live in, chances are high that a festival will be going on in your neighborhood at some point. This upcoming weekend is no exception. With both the Sheffield Garden Walk and the Pitchfork Musical Festival happening this week, you will have no trouble filling your weekend.
Presented by the Sheffield Neighborhood Association, this will be the 45th Annual Sheffield Garden Walk. This festival provides something for everyone. For those with a green thumb, there are more than 80 gardens to tour. If you’re looking for a relaxing day of food, drinks and music, not to worry, there will be bands such as Poi Dog Pondering and Gaelic Storm starting at noon and playing into the evening. If you’re bringing a family to the event, there is a kid’s corner with activities scheduled throughout the day.
Next to Lollapalooza, the Pitchfork Music Festival is probably the largest musical event happening in Chicago this summer. The festival is held annually at Union Park in Chicago. Always bringing in acts from many different genres of music, this year’s festival features such diverse acts from Björk to Belle & Sebastian to R. Kelly. Held over a three day weekend, be sure to bring your dancing shoes and plenty of water.
Summertime in Chicago is always busy and there is always a lot to do. Be it the Cubs or Sox, the lakefront and skyline, the food or music, Chicago has a little something for everyone.
